Tie breaker from Sailing Instructions
Ties will be resolved by head to head scoring of the tied yachts, as above, but ignoring all other competitors. If a tie remains, the tie will be resolved based on the difference in corrected times for each, expressed as a percentage of the best corrected time in each race. For example: Boat A in race 1 has a corrected time of 1 hour and in race 2 she has 1:30. Boat B's corrected times are 2:00 and 1:00 respectively. Boat A wins (100%+150%=250% vs. 200%+100%=300%).
Race 1
Pegasus 01:43:25 6205 sec.
Rascal 01:46:51 6411 sec. 6411/6205 = 103.3
Race 2
Pegasus 00:47:50 2870 sec. 2870/2853 = 100.59
Rascal 00:47:33 2853 sec.
Pegasus 100 + 100.59 = 200.59 Pegasus wins the tie breaker
Rascal 103.3 + 100 = 203.3
